When trying to install with CPAN.pm on a freebsd8 system: ... tar: Pathname in pax header can't be converted to current locale. x Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001/t/02-Acme-\340\262\240_\340\262\240.t x Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001/lib/Acme/ x Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001/lib/Acme/LookOfDisapproval.pm tar: Pathname in pax header can't be converted to current locale. x Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001/lib/Acme/\340\262\240_\340\262\240.pm tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors. Couldn't untar Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001.tar: child exited with value 1 Package contains both files[Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001.tar] and directories[Acme-LookOfDisapproval-0.001]; not recognized as a perl package, giving up I think neither Perl nor Unix are ready for non-ascii filenames... Actually, extraction works on this system if CPAN.pm is using Archive::Tar, or if tar is chosen and a utf-8 locale is set (latin1 or the C locale don't work here). Regards, Slaven

Thanks for the report! It's issues like this that I was hoping would come out of the woodwork with this dist. (I've also found issues with PPI not wanting to parse the sub name.)

lib/Acme/ಠ_ಠ.pm has been removed from the dist, so this problem should be solved for now -- I do hope to bring it back eventually though, when toolchain support is improved.
