Subject: Misleading warning if no network access...
Download (untitled) / with headers
text/plain 329b
Run the example from the top of the perldoc on a machine without network connection: Use of uninitialized value $html in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/perl5/Net/MAC/Vendor.pm line 243. Adding a working http_proxy env var makes the warning go away. I suggest the warning text could be more descriptive of the actual problem.
I now check that the network access worked and given a warning there instead of later.
