Installing a perl according to your given recipe. Meanwhile, have you also tried with a "regular" non-debugger perl? If so, do you see the same error, or do the tests pass? It works fine for me with a normal Perl but as soon as you build a debugging one, like Rafael, I too get the same error he does. I don't know if some extra tests are enabled in the debugging Perl to catch UTF8 encoding issues - perhaps. However, much worse for me (compared with Rafael) is that almost every other test fails with: panic: realloc from wrong pool Martin -- Martin J. Evans Wetherby, UK

I suspect the problem (or most of it) will go away if Perl is not built threaded. I think the realloc from wrong pool is perhaps one thread allocating and another reallocing or OCI allocing and Perl reallocing. Try as Perl without -D usethreads Martin -- Martin J. Evans Wetherby, UK
