It appears that the tests are failing not for incorrect build. If I am incorrect let me know. On a fresh install of Perl 5.14.1 through perlbrew on Ubuntu 10.10.

Hello. Can you check if there is another libbtparse anywhere around your system? I need to find a way to contour this problem, but not sure yet how. Cheers ambs.

If you need to install it, rm /usr/local/lib/libbtparse.* and try again :) Meanwhile, I wonder why the search path is looking first into ldconfig standard paths. Need to use some time on that :)

I did remove and rebuilt btparse (ver 0.34), same result. Thanks for looking into this. Joel On Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 1:26 PM, Alberto Simões via RT < bug-Text-BibTeX@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

Oh! You no longer need btparse!! It is bundled with Text::BibTeX. So, you should remove those files (/usr/local/lib/libbtparse*) and install directly Text::BibTeX. Hope this helps :) Cheers Show quoted text

Indeed it did. Thanks. Perhaps the documentation in `Text::BibTeX` could be updated? Under availability it reads: You will also find the latest version of btparse, the C library underlying Text::BibTeX, there. btparse is needed to build Text::BibTeX, and must be downloaded separately. Which led me to download and install the btparse library. Thanks again for helping me with this! Well, not so sure. I can test/install correctly. However when I go to use I get: joel@joel-ubuntu:~$ perl -E 'use Text::BibTeX' Can't load '/home/joel/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.14.1/lib/site_perl/5.14.1/x86_64-linux/auto/Text/BibTeX/BibTeX.so' for module Text::BibTeX: libbtparse.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /home/joel/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.14.1/lib/5.14.1/x86_64-linux/DynaLoader.pm line 190. at -e line 1 Compilation failed in require at -e line 1. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at -e line 1. Unknown Text::BibTeX function: "cleanup" at -e line 1 END failed--call queue aborted at -e line 1. When I browse in, /home/joel/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.14.1/lib/site_perl/5.14.1/x86_64-linux/auto/Text/BibTeX/BibTeX.so exists. Could this have something to do with using a perlbrew install? I will try installing Text::BibTeX on the system perl and see if that helps. Joel On Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 3:29 PM, Alberto Simões via RT < bug-Text-BibTeX@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

find in your home (/home/joel/perl5/perlbrew) for libbtparse.so. Add that folder to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment dir, and it should work. I think :D Show quoted text

I'm sure that would work, since now I have installed Text::BibTeX in the system perl, the perlbrew perls see the systemwide library and work. Thanks again, Joel On Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 3:37 PM, Alberto Simoes via RT < bug-Text-BibTeX@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text
