Subject: find/findnodes/findvalue fail to find a node/element
I'm probably being an idiot, but I cannot get XML::LibXML to pull a certain node from the attached xml. Test Code Show quoted text

You use the wrong function. Your problem is connected to the document and using findnodes(). findnodes() is just a simple interface to XPath to select nodes directly from a DOM element. It is so simple that it does not automatically include namespaces into the query. However, if your document includes namespaces and therefore the simple tricks will fail. You should have a look at perldoc XML::LibXML::XPathContext. This package provides a nice interface for using easy to read and namespace aware XPath queries. Hope this helps. Ah okay! For the record (if other people come across this and wonder what the "code solution" is: #! /usr/bin/perl use warnings; use strict; use Data::Dumper; use XML::LibXML; my $xml; my $libxml_parser = XML::LibXML->new(); my $dom = $libxml_parser->parse_file( 'playing.xml' ); my $root = $dom->getDocumentElement; my $xc = XML::LibXML::XPathContext->new( $root ); $xc->registerNs(sig => 'http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#'); my $xpath = '//sig:Signature'; my @nodes = $xc->findnodes( $xpath, $dom ); my $result = $xc->find( $xpath, $dom ); print "\@nodes: " . Dumper (@nodes) . "\n"; print "result: " . Dumper( $result ) . "\n"; print "size: " . $result->size() . "\n"; print "Value: " . $xc->findvalue( $xpath, $dom ) . "\n"; foreach my $elname ( $result->get_nodelist ) { print $elname->getName() . "\n"; }
