Subject: Build breaks on OSX 10.6
Get some warnings while running ./Build but ignorable. When doing ./Build bundle gcc -I/usr/local/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_THREAD_SAFE -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -arch ppc -g -pipe -fno-common -DPERL_DARWIN -fno-strict-aliasing -I/usr/local/include -I/System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level/CORE MacOSX/launcher.m -L/usr/local/lib -lSDL -Wl,-framework,Cocoa -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -arch ppc -L/usr/local/lib -L/System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level/CORE -lperl -ldl -lm -lutil -lc -framework Cocoa -o "SDLPerl.app/Contents/MacOS/SDLPerl"MacOSX/launcher.m: In function ‘-[SDLPerlMain launchPerl:]’: MacOSX/launcher.m:136: warning: passing argument 2 of ‘Perl_sys_init3’ from incompatible pointer type MacOSX/launcher.m: In function ‘-[SDLPerlMain launchPerl:]’: MacOSX/launcher.m:136: warning: passing argument 2 of ‘Perl_sys_init3’ from incompatible pointer type ld: warning: in /usr/local/lib/libSDL.dylib, file is not of required architecture Undefined symbols for architecture i386: "_SDL_PushEvent", referenced from: -[SDLPerlApplication terminate:] in cc6v2HIs.o ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture i386 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status MacOSX/launcher.m: In function ‘-[SDLPerlMain launchPerl:]’: MacOSX/launcher.m:136: warning: passing argument 2 of ‘Perl_sys_init3’ from incompatible pointer type ld: warning: in /usr/local/lib/libSDL.dylib, file is not of required architecture Undefined symbols for architecture ppc: "_SDL_PushEvent", referenced from: -[SDLPerlApplication terminate:] in ccTLDLww.o ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture ppc collect2: ld returned 1 exit status lipo: can't open input file: /var/tmp//cc3aQflG.out (No such file or directory) --libs: -L/usr/local/lib -lSDLmain -lSDL -Wl,-framework,Cocoa --cflags: -I/usr/local/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_THREAD_SAFE --version: 1.2.14 Otherwise the install works but package fails. my $app = SDL::App->new( -height => 640, -width => 480, -depth => 16, -title => 'My SDL Program', ); Example app fails.

I don't know if this makes SDL_Perl compile correctly, but I got rid of those warnings by specifying the architecture I wanted: % env ARCHFLAGS="-arch x86_64" ./Build bundle I had compiled SDL, SDL_image, and everything else myself and I didn't do anything to specify that I wanted fat libraries. I documented my struggles at: http://blogs.perl.org/users/brian_d_foy/2010/02/i-almost-have-sdl-perl-working-on- snow-leopard.html

Thank you very much. SDL_perl and Mac has long been a thorn in my side. I promise to look over your results. On Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 8:13 PM, brian d foy via RT < bug-SDL_perl@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

Hi Brian, I think ruoso's recent work on redesign may have fixed the crash you are seeing at the end. Can you git pull the updated master from the kthakore/SDL_perl git repo and try? Also how do we make an easier way for mac users to install and use the bundle? WxPerl on mac seems to work well and we would like to emulate them. But we have very few mac devs to help us out in learning how to use WxPerl bundle logic on SDL perl.
