Hello, I have been trying to install URI::Find::Simple with no success. Every time I try to install, I get an issue stating that it won't install because there was a failed test. I have forced the install but I'm getting incorrect output from scripts using this module and I believe this incorrect output could be related to the test failing. I try using the cpan module to install with the below output: cpan[3]> install URI::Find::Simple Running install for module 'URI::Find::Simple' Running make for T/TO/TOMI/URI-Find-Simple-1.01.tar.gz Has already been unwrapped into directory /home/castacio/.cpan/build/URI-Find-Simple-1.01-lUarjL Has already been made Running make test PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl "-MExtUtils::Command::MM" "-e" "test_harness(0, 'blib/lib', 'blib/arch')" t/*.t t/find.t .. no_plan takes no arguments at t/find.t line 4. t/find.t .. 1/? # Failed test 'expcted matches new text' # at t/find.t line 43. # got: 'this is a long string with [[ http://www.news.com/ ]] urls in it in # <[[ http://various.com/ ]]> different forms. This seems to be a behaviour change in URI::Find, that I'm working on with the author. In the mean time, this isn't a significant test failure, and you can ignore it till I work out if I need to change the test or wait for a fix from upstream. I can see what you're trying to do, but URI::Find isn't going to help you here. I suspect that all of those strings are actually correct URIs according to the spec, so everything is operating as intended. On 27 Jul 2009, at 20:47, Chris via RT wrote: Show quoted text

I'm not sure what you're referring to in saying that URI::Find::Simple won't help me here. It gives me the output I would expect when run on another machine. http://www.silvercybertech.com/italian/registered.html http://www.silvercybertech.com/italian/registered.html http://www.componentace.com/ http://www.componentace.com/ urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1 urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2 Show quoted text

Oh, interesting. Is maybe one and only one of these machines a windows machine, or some other platform with odd line endings? URI::Find::Simple is only really a tiny wrapper around URI::Find, so you might also want to compare URI::Find versions between the two machines?

Indeed the versions of URI::Find between machines were incorrect! I have the newest version on my machine which is 20090319 and the other machine had 0.16. I reverted my machine back to URI::Find version 0.16 and the script works as intended! Also after reverting, I have reverted to the previous version of ::Simple to upgrade through CPAN and see if I still had the test failure issue and it turns out that the tests no longer fail. So there is something up with the latest version of URI::Find? Show quoted text

The most recent version has changed behaviour, yes, causing my tests to fail, but I'm not yet sure if the right thing to do is to fix my test to be inline with the new behaviour, or to wait for a newer version of URI::Find that doesn't break my tests. It seems that there have been other, more subtle, changes between the two to cause your problems. I'm glad you have some sort of solution, however.

Just wondering if there's been any progress on this, since it's been a while since the ticket was last updated. -Jacob
