ex-lib-zip has the following failure with 5.8.9-tobe and 5.10.0: t/02data_handle....ok 1/6PerlIO::gzip can't yet clone active layers at /usr/loca l/src/work/git/perl/lib/SelfLoader.pm line 68. I did a binary search in maint-5.8 and found the monster change 30539 to be guilty, probably one of the both SelfLoader-related patches. If you like, then I can do a binary search in bleadperl. If you have time, yes, a search of bleadperl would be very useful. They're all pure perl non-dual life modules, so it's curious that they've upset a module that is pretty much C code, not even using the XS API. Nicholas Clark
