I intended to insert this attachment inline, the apple x11 env doesn't copy and paste worth anything. grr. Anyhow, I'm using perl 5.8.6 on mac os/x 10.4 powerpc. Is there anything I can do to remedy these failed tests? or are they ignoreable/harmless/insignificant? Thanks.

10_destroy.t uses 2 external sites to test, debianforum.de and perldition.org. Is it possible they were not accessible?

elinks can access each of those fine, but curl throws SSL cert validation errors for both hosts. curl does not throw errors on https://secure.paypal.com

I see the same behaviour with curl. I dont have elinks. Perhaps you can run the destroy tests by hand: perl -I blib/lib/ -I blib/arch t/handle/external/10_destroy.t and tell us what you see? -- Mike McCauley mikem@open.com.au Open System Consultants Pty. The Change log for the still-in-cvs 1.33_01 has: - removed bacus.pt from host list in t/handle/external/10_destroy.t, since it seems no longer to respond. Reported by tco2. If everything else is working for you, I suspect you can ignore these errors. Cheers. -- Mike McCauley mikem@open.com.au Open System Consultants Pty. This same bug exists in all recent Fedora 7 & 8 releases on both the stock perl-5.8.x and all patch levels of 5.10 bleed. The problem is this... net1#PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /common/pkgs/perl-5.10.0-33947/bin/perl "-MExtUtils::Command::MM" "-e" "test_harness(1, 'inc', 'blib/lib', 'blib/arch')" t/handle/external/10_destroy.t t/handle/external/10_destroy...... 1..6 ok 1 - correct response ok 2 - handle gets destroyed when it goes out of scope Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at /common/pkgs/perl-5.10.0-33947/lib/5.10.0/i686-linux-thread-multi/Socket.pm line 386. Bad arg length for Socket::pack_sockaddr_in, length is 0, should be 4 at /common/pkgs/perl-5.10.0-33947/lib/5.10.0/i686-linux-thread-multi/Socket.pm line 386. # Looks like you planned 6 tests but only ran 2. # Looks like your test died just after 2. The problem is in the testcase 10_destroy.t which should check all @uris for timeouts. In this case 'bacus.pt' is bogus: net1#host bacus.pt ;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached Removing bacus.pt from @uris fixes the problem. Best to fix the test case to set the test plan count based on domains which are responding and skip the ones which are offline.
