Subject: new failure mode: Couldn't get tarball for perl ...
Salve Michael, For quite a while my smoke runs have not seen a successful test of CPAN::Unwind. Something broke and I have no idea what it might be. Most tests fail with t/001Basic....ok 2/0Couldn't get tarball for perl from CPAN at /home/k/.cpan/build/CPAN-Unwind-0.04-My9ba1/blib/lib/CPAN/Unwind.pm line 173 but also t/001Basic....Could not create filehandle for 'tar.tgz': No such file or directory! at /home/sand/.cpan/build/CPAN-Unwind-0.04-nsjsNE/blib/lib/CPAN/Unwind.pm line 207 No files found for tar.tgz at /home/sand/.cpan/build/CPAN-Unwind-0.04-nsjsNE/blib/lib/CPAN/Unwind.pm line 208 and also t/001Basic....Argument "6.32_01" isn't numeric in numeric le (<=) a t /tmp/jZ0qLxWRPC/Test-Simple-0.70/Makefile.PL line 49. Couldn't get tarball for perl from CPAN at /home/sand/.cpan/build/CPAN-Unwind-0. 04-kBICZB/blib/lib/CPAN/Unwind.pm line 173 Very many fail with t/001Basic.... # Failed test 'use CPAN::Unwind;' # at t/001Basic.t line 10. # Tried to use 'CPAN::Unwind'. # Error: Can't locate Algorithm/Dependency/Ordered.pm in @INC which is obvious what it says. Same thing happens for Module/Depends/Intrusive.pm. These indicate that some dependencies were temporarily broken in my smoke environment and we can ignore them. Even perl versions for which I have success reports in my database now fail. Some dependency broke, do you hae an idea what it was? Or suggestions what I should try in case you cannot reproduce? Thanks,

Howdy Andreas, sorry about the delay, I was at OSCON in Portland/OR last week OSCON ;). I fixed the error above by ignoring depdendencies on 'perl' and released CPAN::Unwind 0.04 to CPAN -- hopefully your smoke tests will work now without a hitch.

Hmm, this is odd, hopefully it'll go away with the fix as well. Grüße aus der Stadt mit der Brücke :O. -- Mike Mike Schilli m@perlmeister.com
