Subject: Cannot install to my lib directory

It seems that the command option sitelib=... as documented in README is ignored. This is annoying, as I do not have root on the box I am installing to. Config information is at the bottom. Hi Ivor, You're right, the documentation is hopelessly wrong about this. The current way to get installation to happen in another directory is like this: perl Build.PL config='sitelib=/home/foo/lib sitearch=/home/foo/lib/i386-linux' It's pretty ugly, but it works. Note that '~' and other shell escapes are NOT honored here unless your shell fills them in. If you do perl Build.PL config='sitelib=~/lib sitearch=~/lib/i386-linux' under tcsh, for example, it will quite happily create a directory called '~' in the current directory. Fixing the installation directories is probably the biggest issue for the 1.17 release. It's so wacky now that the fixes probably won't be backward-compatible. -Ken
