This is a long standing bug, if you have a long running process which uses XML::LibXML and XML::LibXSLT it does eventually segfault because of this. I was able to fix it by removing the call to SafeFree(node) and free(node) on line 287 of perl-libxml-mm.c. The consequence of this is that it leaks memory like crazy. This should be ok if 1.59 versions of both LibXML and LibXSLT are used, since in both them perl-libxml-mm.c uses Newc/Safefree (previously LibXSLT used free/malloc).
