I'm trying to get DBD::Pg installed on Ubuntu 20.10 with the postgresql-client (meta for postgresql-client-12) package installed but keep failing: $ perl Makefile.PL Configuring DBD::Pg 3.14.2 Path to pg_config? No POSTGRES_HOME defined, cannot find automatically $ export POSTGRES_HOME=/usr/lib/postgresql/12/ $ perl Makefile.PL Configuring DBD::Pg 3.14.2 PostgreSQL version: 120006 (default port: 5432) POSTGRES_HOME: /usr/lib/postgresql/12/ POSTGRES_INCLUDE: /usr/include/postgresql POSTGRES_LIB: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu OS: linux The value of POSTGRES_INCLUDE points to a non-existent directory: /usr/include/postgresql Cannot build unless the directories exist, exiting.wasn't helping because it seems the Ubuntu package name has changed. I just realized that one of my problems is that libpq-dev still is named that way, but not installable, because the pgadmin4-desktop package installed libpq5_13.2-1.pgdg20.10+1 but their repo doesn't provide a matching libpq-dev package. Further I found installation instructions in the README file. This is hard to find because: a) it isn't menitioned in the pod shown on MetaCPAN b) isn't linked to by the 'Install Instructions' link on MetaCPAN I'd prefer a section in the pod shown on MetaCPAN instead of the README file. If you want to keep that for whatever reason please at least add a pointer to it in the pod. Thanks!
