_System_: I am attempting to install Strawberry Perl on several com- puters that operate under Windows. The machine in question boots alter- nately to Windows 2000 or to a back version of Linux. It is an older machine, still sound, running at 500 megahertz. I have attempted to install a version of Strawberry Perl that would operate under Windows 2000. I found that I could not install any of the .msi versions: they said that they could not install under Windows NT or Windows 2000. I went back to version 188.8.131.52, from 2008, and installed the .zip version. _Problem_: Perl executed. But my security software reported that a virus (a worm: Win32.Qvod.ck?) was detected in the following programs: . . . /c/bin/cpp.exe . . . /c/bin/pexports.exe . . . /c/bin/DLLwrap.exe . . . /c/libexec/gcc/mingW32/3.4.5./collect2.exe _Questions_: 1. Is the security package correct in detecting this problem? 2. If so, are later version of these four programs free of this virus? And, if so, would those later versions still execute under Windows 2000? 3. Is it known what version of Strawberry Perl is the latest that would run under Windows 2000? I would reinstall a later version if I knew that it would operate (and would hope that this virus did not reappear). Thank you for your attention. -- William Lee Valentine -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software.
